I’m a wedding photographer based in Great Harwood, covering Lancashire, the Ribble Valley, Cumbria, and anywhere that involves a bit of countryside
Once upon a time, I worked as a forensic scientist. It mostly taught me to notice tiny things that other people miss, which turns out to be pretty handy at a wedding. That’s about as glamorous as the comparison gets though. These days I’m far happier swapping lab lights for natural light, photographing people having a brilliant time instead of… well, anything forensic.
When I’m at a wedding, my whole aim is to keep things calm and easy. I’m not the shouty type, I don’t take over the day, and I definitely won’t have you posing every five minutes. I just blend in, let you two get on with enjoying yourselves, and quietly catch the moments that actually make the day feel like yours. The laughs, the nerves, the daft bits, the magic bits, all of it.
I want you to feel comfortable with me from the get-go, like having another mate around who happens to be pretty decent with a camera. The more you relax and be yourselves, the photos always follow.
Hey, I’m Martyn, I’m a wedding photographer based in Great Harwood, right in the heart of Lancashire.
“I was so lucky to have found Martyn! We were on the same page about what we want to achieve and that is absolutely crucial when it comes to wedding photos. Natural, relaxed without any fakery or silly over the top photos. He made us feel at ease and took us for a little pre-shoot just to get used to the camera. The communication was flawless from the start till finish.
On the wedding day, he was great, he went above and beyond with everything and stayed longer than normal. We had an instant rapport with him.
The quality of the photos, the dedication, the professionalism shone through that day.
He is the best in the wedding photographer industry, I highly recommend him.”

What I’m Like on a Wedding Day
The main thing people tell me is that I’m calm. Proper calm.
The kind of calm that makes you feel like everything’s under control, even when the best man’s lost the rings and it’s torrential rain outside!
I keep things relaxed, friendly, and natural. No drama, no fuss, no scenes where I make you do weird poses in front of everyone. I’m there to document your day the way it actually feels, not turn it into something staged.
Here’s what you can expect with me:
• I blend in so you don’t feel watched.
• I give you space to be yourselves.
• I step in when you need a bit of guidance, not when you don’t.
• I look for the moments that matter.
• I work quietly… except for when your dog turns up.
My whole thing is making sure you can relax and enjoy your day while I capture it honestly, naturally, and in a way that reflects you.
Why I Do This!
There’s something about weddings that just clicks for me. Every single one is different, and that’s half the fun. You never quite know what you’re walking into, which means you’re constantly adapting, reading the room, and looking for the moments that matter. One minute it’s calm and quiet, the next minute the flower girl’s gone rogue and someone’s ironing shirts on the floor. I genuinely love it.
I’m not in it for the staged stuff. I’m here for the real moments that actually tell the story of your day. The way you squeeze each other’s hands before the ceremony, your mates cracking up during speeches, your nan having a quiet moment during the first dance. Those are the photos you feel years later.
And honestly, I just like seeing people enjoy themselves. If I can give you a set of photos that feels like stepping back into your wedding day, then that’s me happy.
I have a Border Terrier called Arthur…who doesn’t realise he’s an actual dog.
I’m calm in pretty much every situation, which comes in handy when weddings get a bit… lively.
I love a cheeky Rum…anything spiced and I’m happy!
I was a forensic scientist for 17 years, so noticing the tiny details is basically baked into me.
I’m a Man United fan, even when they’re determined to test my patience
I’m always up for a long countryside walk and a spiced rum afterwards.
I’m 6’4”…but I still manage to blend in/hide behind a suitably placed bush to get the shot!
